Before you cast on ✨
These are the things people ask us most often — mostly from makers who've never followed an amigurumi pattern before, which is exactly who we write for.
Am I buying a pattern or a finished toy?
A pattern — a digital PDF you download and make from. Nothing is posted to you, and no physical toy is included. All the photos on our listings are of the finished make, so you can see where you're heading 🧶
I've never crocheted before. Can I really do this?
Yes, and you wouldn't be the first. Our patterns use a handful of basic stitches — single crochet, increases, decreases — and each one is named in full the first time it appears.
Start with something small and round. A ghost or a pumpkin has no legs to attach and very little sewing.
What yarn and hook should I use?
We make ours in chenille bulky yarn with a 4.0 mm hook — that's the plush, velvety texture in the photos. Any yarn will work, though; a thinner one just gives you a smaller friend.
How big will my finished make be?
Around 14 cm tall with our yarn and hook, unless the listing says otherwise. Your own tension will shift this a centimetre or two either way, and that's completely fine.
Which languages are included?
English, and French, Spanish, and German in some others — all four in every purchase, at no extra cost. Patterns are written in US crochet terms.
When will I get my file?
Straight away. As soon as your payment goes through, the PDF lands on your downloads page and in your email. You can re-download it any time, and if we ever update a pattern you'll get the new version free.
Can I sell the toys I make?
Please do — sell them at markets, online, wherever you like. A credit back to us is lovely but never required. The only thing we ask is that the pattern file itself stays with you.
A round doesn't add up. What now?
Tell us, and send a photo if you can. We test everything, but errors do slip through — when they do, we correct the file and let everyone who bought it know. Getting stuck is never a sign you've done something wrong 💗
Can I get a refund?
Because a downloaded file can't be returned, we don't offer refunds on patterns generally. But if your file won't open, arrives incomplete, or isn't what you ordered, message us and we'll sort it out.
Didn't find it here?
Send us a message — we'd much rather answer a small question now than have you unravel an evening's work later.
