Scarecrow Doll Crochet Pattern – Barley

Barley sits with his rust boots pointing forward and a pointed terracotta hat perched on his head, complete with a denim band and a straw-yellow sunflower tucked at the side. Straw fringe pokes out under the brim and at every cuff and boot top. He wears denim overalls with a real little pocket, a running-stitch denim seam, and a couple of brown X patches — and his mouth is the classic scarecrow stitch, a soft curve crossed with four small bars. 🧶

This one is written for advanced beginners and uses only single crochet, hdc, chains, slip stitches and simple increases and decreases. Nothing tricky, just a few more steps than usual. 

Head and body grow as one continuous top-down piece, and the arms crochet straight onto a shoulder round — no arm seams at all. The legs, hat, overall panels and sunflower are sewn or slip-stitched on afterwards, which comes to seven pieces to attach. The hat is removable unless you'd rather tack it down.
