Meet Sprig — a sweet little zombie in sage green chenille, with shaggy charcoal hair, slate blue-grey ruffled overalls and a tiny green sprout growing right out of his crown. Brown floss scars, pink blushed cheeks and a wide shallow smile keep him gentle rather than ghoulish. He stands about 21 cm (8¼ in) to the top of his head, 25 cm (9¾ in) to the tip of the sprout, worked in chenille bulky yarn on a 4.0 mm hook.
The pattern calls him a confident beginner make. It's single crochet nearly all the way, with a little half double and double crochet in the leaves and the ruffle hem, plus simple embroidery. Every round is written out with the stitch count in brackets, and there are notes throughout on counting stitches in chenille, stuffing firmly and setting the arm angle.
Head and body are worked as separate spheres in continuous spiral rounds. The arms are crocheted straight into a body round — no arm sewing at all — and the hair is knotted on. What you do stitch: the head onto the body, two legs, two buttons, the sprout and its two leaves. 💗

Cosy, squishy and clearly explained — take him one round at a time. ✨
