Crochet Grim Reaper Pattern — Reaper Buddy

Meet Reaper Buddy — the softest, least frightening reaper you'll ever make. He's about 18 cm tall, all dusty purple chenille, with a cream face peeking out of a roomy hood, a tiny pointed nub at the back, pink-blushed cheeks and a small coral-and-grey scythe tucked under one arm. Spooky in theory. Very cuddly in practice. 🧶

He's a gentle make. The whole figure uses only single crochet, increases, decreases, a magic ring and chains — nothing more.

Everything is worked in a continuous spiral, so there's no joining to keep track of. The robe rises bottom-up from a flat base with one back-loop round that helps him stand on his own, and the arms can be crocheted straight onto the robe as you go — no sewing needed for those. The hood is the only part that turns into flat rows, leaving an open face. That leaves the head, hood, crown point and scythe to stitch on at the end.
