Sol is a coral stegosaurus with a row of soft cream plates marching from his crown, down his back and out along his tail. He sits at about 18 cm, with a rounded snout, a pale teardrop belly and tiny cream claws on every paw. ✨
If you have made a simple amigurumi ball before, you can make Sol. It is all magic ring, single crochet, increases and invisible decreases, worked in a continuous spiral in chenille bulky on a 4.0 mm hook — no colour changes mid-round anywhere. The plates are the only part that asks for patience, and we talk you through pinning the whole row and checking it from the back before a single stitch goes in.
His head and body grow as one continuous top-down piece, so there is no neck seam to wrestle with. The arms are crochet-joined as you work the body, and the feet, tail, belly patch and seven dorsal plates are sewn on afterwards — eleven pieces to attach in all. The face and claws are embroidered.
Your download includes the pattern in English, in US crochet terms, with the materials list, a gauge note, the finished size and a troubleshooting section.
