Bitsy is a dusty lilac spider with a fluffy faux-fur abdomen, six shiny black eyes swept up and out across her face, and a silver web embroidered over her back. A small dusty rose bow sits on her crown. She measures about 12 cm from front to back and 5 cm tall, with a leg span of roughly 16 cm once you've posed her. ✨
Only six stitches are used in the whole pattern. Two rounds need a little care — the leg-joining round and the abdomen join — and both are mapped out completely, with markers placed in advance so the tricky round becomes a mechanical one.
Best of all, there is nothing to sew. All eight legs are attached during a single round of the head as you work it, and the fluffy abdomen is slip-stitched straight on, closing and joining in one pass. Chenille stems can be threaded through the legs for posing, or left out entirely for a child's toy.
