Hattie is a round grey hippo with a soft lavender muzzle and belly patch, charcoal paws and feet, and a dark stripe across her middle where her arms tuck in. There is a small stacked lotus flower she can hold between her paws. In chenille yarn she comes out heavy and cuddly, with a wide smiling face 💗
She is beginner-friendly — just basic stitches plus the simple crochet-join we walk you through. The head and body are one continuous top-down piece, and the arms, feet and tail are all crochet-joined during their own rounds, so there is no limb sewing at all. Only four pieces sew on at the end: the muzzle, the two ears and the belly patch. The nostrils and that wide smile are embroidered.
Your download is a clearly written PDF in English, in US crochet terms, with the full materials list, gauge, stitch abbreviations, assembly order, finishing notes and troubleshooting tips. Finished size is approximately 14 cm / 5.5 in tall on a 4.0 mm hook.
Prepare the small pieces first and the rest simply falls into place ✨
